The State of Bahrain is an archipelago of 33 islands between the Qatar peninsula and the Saudi Arabian mainland. However,only 3 of the islands are inhabited.

Bahrain's natural oil reserves are now almost depleted. Service industries such as tourism, offshore banking & insurance now provide the main source of employment for skilled Bahrainis.

Almost 75% of visitors to Bahrain come from neighbouring Gulf States (mainly Saudi Arabia), who are attracted by the liberal lifestyle. There is a modern airport and Bahrain is a business convention centre.
